Muslims in Pallisa Urged to Embrace Forgiveness During Ramadan

By Alfred Opio

The Muslim community in Pallisa District has been urged to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation during the holy month of Ramadan.

The call was made by Catherine Achola, who said the sacred period of Ramadan should be used to promote unity, peace, and harmony among believers.

Speaking to members of the Muslim community, Achola noted that many people may be living with misunderstandings and conflicts, but the holy month provides an opportunity for reconciliation.

She encouraged those who have been in conflict to forgive one another and begin sharing what they have, saying such actions demonstrate peace and unity within the community.

Achola warned that maintaining enmity among community members can lead to serious consequences that may even result in loss of life.

The Woman MP-elect also used the opportunity to ask the Muslim community to forgive her for any misunderstandings that may have occurred during the recent campaign period.

She explained that political campaigns often create situations where people clash knowingly or unknowingly, but emphasized that such disagreements should end with forgiveness and reconciliation once elections are over.

Achola further appealed to married Muslim couples to end domestic violence in their families, stressing that peace should prevail in homes during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to her, domestic violence creates divisions between partners and can lead to divorce, leaving children to suffer as a result of family separation.

She therefore advised couples to seek dialogue with leaders, friends, or neighbours whenever conflicts arise in their families, noting that peaceful discussions can help resolve disputes and strengthen family unity in Pallisa District.
