Residents of Amolatar District have been urged to actively embrace government poverty alleviation programs and unite in the fight against corruption as Uganda advances toward middle-income status.
The call was made during a breakfast prayer held on April 7, 2026, at Amolatar Boma Grounds. The event was organized by the Church of Uganda Lango Diocese, Amolatar District Local Government, and the Office of the President.

Delivering a message on behalf of the government, Lt Col (Rtd) Ambako Kibrai, Senior Presidential Advisor for Mobilization in the Office of the President, emphasized the need for unity among leaders and communities to drive development.
❝ “Persistent bickering among leaders is affecting service delivery. We must reconcile and work together if we are to fight poverty and corruption.” ❞
— Lt Col (Rtd) Ambako Kibrai
Kibrai noted that political conflicts within the district are undermining progress and slowing down the implementation of government programs aimed at improving livelihoods. He urged residents to take personal responsibility in supporting initiatives designed to reduce poverty.
He further stressed that corruption remains a major barrier to development, calling on both leaders and citizens to uphold integrity and accountability in public service.
The prayer gathering also highlighted the importance of spiritual guidance in addressing social and economic challenges.
The Bishop of Lango Diocese, Rt. Rev. Prof. Alfred Olwa, who led the prayers, emphasized the role of faith in promoting healing and unity within communities.
❝ “Prayer is key in the healing process. It brings people together and restores hope where there is division.” ❞
— Rt. Rev. Prof. Alfred Olwa
Meanwhile, His Highness Papa Me Kumam Raphael Otaya, who attended as the chief guest, called on newly elected leaders to prioritize service delivery and put aside personal differences.
❝ “Leaders must unite and focus on serving the people. Development can only be achieved when we work together for the common good.” ❞
— Papa Me Kumam Raphael Otaya
The event brought together local leaders, religious figures, and community members, all united in a shared commitment to fostering peace, accountability, and economic progress in the district.
As Uganda continues its journey toward middle-income status, leaders in Amolatar expressed optimism that with unity, effective leadership, and proper utilization of government programs, the district can overcome poverty and achieve sustainable development.
