Pallisa District is mourning the heartbreaking loss of a six-year-old boy who tragically drowned in a hill pool, an incident that has left residents of Komolo Village in Kameke Sub-county in deep shock.
The deceased, identified as Moses Ekait, is reported to have been living with epilepsy since birth. His death on April 2026 has raised serious concerns about child safety around open water sources, especially for vulnerable children with medical conditions.
According to a report filed by Faustino Aporu, a resident of Komolo Village, the young boy had gone to bathe at a nearby hill pool commonly used by members of the community. It is suspected that he may have suffered an epileptic seizure while in the water, leading to the fatal drowning.

The case was first reported at Kameke Police Post before being officially registered at Pallisa Police Station as investigations commenced.
Police officers, led by the Deputy CID Officer, visited the scene, which was documented by the District Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO). Statements have since been recorded from witnesses to help establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The body of the deceased was transported to Pallisa General Hospital for a postmortem examination to confirm the precise cause of death.
Bukedi North Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Wilfred Kyempasa confirmed the incident and called for increased vigilance among parents and guardians.
